The Wellness Institute, located in the heart of The Kingsway, has introduced a new, non-invasive Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) technique. It is a valuable procedure for alerting doctors to changes that can indicate the early stages of breast disease. DITI detects the subtle physiologic changes that accompany breast pathology. There is no radiation, no contact, no squeeze - it is painless. All women can benefit from DITI breast screening. It is especially appropriate for younger women, 30 to 50 years old, whose denser breast tissue makes it more difficult for mammography to be effective. It is also very useful for those women with implants. The imaging is completed by a registered nurse who sends the images to a doctor who will then read the images and complete a report, which will be forwarded to the patient along with a copy of the images. The images are kept on file so that during the next appointment the doctor can compare to see if there has been any change in physiology. DITI can also be used for full and half-body scans, which can assess pain and pathology anywhere on the body.
